KEMAMAN, June 1, 2024 – Greenverse Holding Sdn Bhd has announced plans to build an Integrated Scheduled Waste Management Facility in Kerteh Biopolymer Park, which is expected to create over 700 job opportunities for the local community.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Local Government, Housing, and Health, Ir Saiful Azmi Suhaili, stated that the facility would serve as an economic catalyst for the area.
According to him, the project has received strong support from its key partner, China Hyway Group Limited, an international company with extensive experience in various industrial sectors.
**“With an investment of RM247 million, the construction of this facility will be carried out in phases.
“The first phase is scheduled for completion by mid-2025, while the second phase is expected to be completed by 2028,” he said when contacted by Urus Setia Penerangan Darul Iman (UPDI) today.
Saiful further expressed his hope that GREENVERSE would ensure smooth and efficient operations in managing scheduled waste comprehensively, focusing on the Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C) solution.
**“This is in line with the circular economy principles implemented according to government policies and regulations.
“This project is a smart and innovative initiative to redefine scheduled waste—not as a ‘by-product’ for disposal, but as a commodity that can be transformed into valuable resources for other industries, following the ‘Waste to Wealth’ concept,” he explained.
He also emphasized that collaboration between the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) and local educational institutions would ensure a continuous supply of skilled talent for the facility and industry.
“A 50-acre land lease agreement has been signed between the Terengganu State Heritage Trust Fund Board (LTAWNT) and Greenverse Holding Sdn Bhd, marking a long-term commitment to the development of Terengganu’s industry and economy,” he added.
He also hopes that the project will not only benefit the industry but also bring positive impacts to the people of Terengganu.
